Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The falls were created about 14,000 years ago during the last ice age. The cascades are part of the Big Sioux River, a tributary of the Missouri river. The falls are located in the western territory of South Dakota, in the bordering area to Iowa ana Minnesota.
